So, arrived back in Australia, put my pre-paid Telstra SIM into my phone and put on $30 of credit. Got to Melbourne a few hours later and had $0 credit left. What? Oh wait, I didn't turn mobile data of and going by the data usage since I arrived in Australia (14.55MB)... I guess Telstra is charging $2/MB. Ouch.

Apparently it used to be over $22/MB. Sound about right, since I recall seeing something like $0.02/kB.
The annoying bit is on their "browse backs" it's 3GB for $49. So it's only about a 120x price difference. Don't even want to think what the wholesale cost price difference would be...

Is this roaming or the normal local charges? It sounds ridiculous.
