DSL being capable of 25Mbps?! https://webpass.net/residential I could only dream about such speeds! Notwithstanding that it's also upload speeds that are a big pain point for me with such technology :'( #NBN

Well, most residential internet in the Bay area is pretty terrible (typically a choice between Comcast Cable or AT&T DSL). After several outages with my original provider, I'm glad I switched to Webpass.
It was originally based off P2P wireless links, but they're slowly migrating to Fiber. About my only gripe is the use of carrier grade NAT but they do offer IPv6 so I can always tunnel stuff via my Linode.
